Dark ROast Whole Bean

This Dark Roast Coffee has a delicate flavor that gets its taste from the Marcala Region where it is grown. Strictly High Grown is an official designation of coffee in Honduras. This is the highest quality coffee designation in Honduras.

It holds the distinction of being Honduras’ first origin denomination, aka. Café de Marcala. Located on the border near El Salvador, coffee grows at an altitude of between 3,937 and 5,249 feet above sea level.

As a result, the colder nights bring out the coffee’s sweeter peach, apricot, caramel, and citrus notes. To round out the unique flavor profile, it has a velvety body with a bright acidity.

Our ground dark roast mountain grown coffee is ready for you to brew - no coffee grinder necessary.  Our ground dark roast is made from award winning, high quality roasted whole beans that are grown and harvested at high altitudes in the Marcala Region near the border with El Salvador.  


As with all our coffees, it’s designated organic and strictly high grown, the best quality bean available in Honduras.  Ripe beans are painstakingly hand picked, sun dried and roasted in small batches to create a top ranking Honduran coffee with a unique, crisp taste and smooth body.

Medium Roast Whole Bean

Grind your own whole beans at home for the freshest mountain grown coffee taste.  The temperatures found in the La Paz region are ideal for these Honduran coffee beans all year round.  Our medium roast high altitude coffee beans are organically grown for a distinctive, award winning flavor.  

Unlike the larger producers, we’ve kept with traditional growing and harvesting methods that are naturally environmentally sensitive and ensure the quality of the land and the flavor of our coffee.  Our beans are hand selected, sun dried and roasted on location - not shipped off to large roasting factories. This allows us to maintain the quality that our coffee has become known for.

Make it easy on yourself by allowing us to grind our award winning coffee beans for you.  All you need to do is brew this organic medium roast coffee. This is still the highest quality coffee available in Honduras, grown at high altitude and processed in small batches.  Our growing, harvesting and roasting methods have been handed down for generations and this tradition can be tasted in every single cup.

When you choose Montecillos coffee you won’t be subjected to inferior machine farmed flavor.  Our beans are handpicked only when they’re ripe. This allows green berries to continue growing for later harvesting and prevents mixing of immature beans with the final product.  We take pride in our artisanal coffee growing traditions and you can taste the difference

In one of the world’s poorest countries, we take pride in helping people make a living.

As a small growing operation, we employ more than 64 people on a full-time basis during the height of the growing season. We also have an annual full-time farming staff of seven men and women and a full time production staff of four. The care they take in growing, harvesting and planting brings life to the small community of Marcala.
