When You Buy Montecillos Coffee You Help the Environment

Montecillos Coffee is certified organic but what exactly is "certified organic"?

Montecillos Coffee falls under the heading of “ethical coffees” (think Fair Trade and certified organic coffees. )

For many years around the world, coffee producers were not so friendly to the environment. They produced as much coffee as they could burning out the soil and damaging the surroundings.

We believe in working with the environment.

The standards for "certified organic" production are well-defined and established and monitored by international NGOs, which include The Rainforest Alliance, and the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center and others.

The work is intensive. Organic coffee production standards include detailed specifications about many things: total replacement of chemical components with organic, how much shade is present in the growing area, soil conservation and more.

The land benefits by enriched soil, better biodiversity, and improved sustainability (both ecological and social).

When you buy Montecillos Coffee, you are buying a coffee that tastes special, and is great for the environment.
